Management Team

The Hexa management team is formed of emerald market and mining professionals who have between them, many years of trading experience and core competencies in the commodities and mining industry. The team shares an overriding commitment to build value for our shareholders through the drill bit and licence acquisition.

Christopher Harris

Managing Director

Chris is an FCA, and an experienced investor, deal-maker and structurer with over 30 years experience in energy, commodity trading and mining finance. He trained at Ernst & Young, and worked at CIBC, Enron UK, BHP Billiton, and GMI Resources, making multiple principal investments with associated director roles. He has extensive experience in setting up and managing new businesses, as well as building new teams. Chris is currently a Director of Altamira Gold Corp, a Canadian public company (formerly President & CEO), and was co-founder and chairman of Alta Floresta Gold, a private Brazilian Gold exploration company which was acquired in 2016 by Altamira Gold.

Jon Coates

Director

Jon is an experienced exploration and mining  geologist and has spent 40 years in exploration and production geology, project evaluation, due diligence and business improvement, over five continents, and in 12 countries with 7 years of these spent in Latin America.  Often managing teams of up to 130 people across remote sites globally, Jon has hands-on field-based experience across a wide range of mineral resources, including  copper, other base metals, gold, coal, tin, tungsten, and emeralds, as well as experience in potash, iron ore, manganese, uranium and other minerals. He has spent much of his career at BHP Billiton with roles such as Chief Geoscientist, Regional Manager Latin America and VP Business Development China. Jon speaks Spanish, and Portuguese.

Kyler Hardy

Director

Kyler is a natural resources focused entrepreneur, he has been involved for over fourteen years in the sector with both private and public businesses. His career has spanned many facets of the industry, and has built businesses from early stage start-ups to advanced operating companies in several sectors. He was a founder and former CEO of a large geosciences and logistics management business specialising in grassroots to brownfields exploration with active First Nations partnerships. Kyler is experienced in project generation, exploration management, logistics, raising capital corporate development and developing strategic alliances and partnerships.

Rory Dyer

Director

Rory began his career as a broker in the London market with a focus on smaller to mid-size quoted equities. Following this he became a founding partner of IEEX (International Emerald Exchange) gaining 5 years experience of the Colombian emerald market both buying in country and selling internationaly. Rory has been with Hexa from the start and is bringing to Hexa this experience in pricing and treatment of stones. Going forward he will focus on the manufacturing of Hexa’s production and the trading of their stones globally and the implementation of a thorough grading structure.

Sergio Amaro Aquino

Director Brazil

Sergio is a Brazilian national, and is a highly experienced mining executive with 41 years of mining exploration, mine development and management roles in gold and diamonds in Latin America. Sergio was most recently Brazil country head for Altamira Gold Corp (TSX-V), and was co-founder of Serabi Gold (which has grown to become a mid-sized gold producer listed on the LSE.  He also co-founded and ran Dourave – Monarch Bullion a gold development JV in Brazil.  He has worked as a geologist/consultant in numerous other projects evaluating and coordinating gold and diamond exploration programs for RTZ, and several Canadian and Australian junior companies and consulting groups in South America (Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Equator and Brazil).

The Colombian labour force is considered to be one of the most qualified and competitive in Latin America in terms of costs at management and operational levels, Colombia has one of the most flexible labour regulations in Latin America.
